- Background/Quick Overview -

An angel is a being created by God and can take a physical form on earth. When God is not around, angels are the ones who run Heaven. God has been absent for thousands of years now, leaving the Archangel's to rule and manage the souls within it. Angel's have a hierarchy and they live off it. They operate much like military units, taking commands from the higher aboves. Angel's communicate with each other by speaking Enochian.

At the dawn of creation, before creating man, God created the first angels. They became known as Archangels. They are the strongest, fiercest angels in existence. Just like any parent, God had his favorite. Lucifer was God's pride and joy; he shined brighter than all the others. After creating them, God created man. Lucifer refused to bow to man.

Lucifer was the Angel of Light, "The Bearer of light", "The Bringer of Dawn" and a divine servant of God, associated with the Morning Star. He was related to all of the other angels, but especially his fellow archangels - Michael, Azrael, Raphael, Gabriel and Uriel.

Lucifer was God's most powerful servant, having no superiors other than God Himself. All of the other members of the Heavenly Hosts are subjected to his will including the other Archangels. He was reputedly also the oldest and most beautiful angel in all of Paradise. However, Lucifer's glory and power fostered arrogance, leading him to believe that he was a being of perfection. When God created Man in his own image, Lucifer refused to bow down to them. Corrupted and consumed by his pride, he deluded himself into thinking that God was incompetent and he was the rightful ruler of the Universe.

As a result, Lucifer gathered up an army of rebellious angels and attempted to storm Heaven. In return, God sent Michael - the only angel skilled and powerful enough to match Lucifer in combat - to meet the rebels in battle. Despite Lucifer's best efforts, Michael emerged victorious, tearing away Lucifer's wings before casting him and his minions into the pit of Hell as punishment. His name was stripped from him and he earned the title "Ha-Satan" (The Adversary). His treachery against his Father earned him imprisonment in the lowermost Circle of the Inferno where his bitter tears and the icy winds generated from his ruined wings created Cocytus, a frozen lake. - Sub-Classes -

The ranking of the 5 classes of angels from Strongest to weakest.

Archangels - The highest order of Angels. When God isn’t present, they rule Heaven. They are the strongest, fastest, and most feared class of angels. They are essentially the super soldiers of Heaven and they typically deal with the worst demons and angels that need to be… handled.

Seraphim - higher class of angels, above regular Angel's, below Archangels on the hierarchy. However, they can sometimes rival archangels. They've been known to smite demons with ease.

Grigori - An elite squad of angels who were the first angels stationed on Earth to watch over humanity. They eventually went rogue and were supposedly all wiped out. Some survive and to this day they still feed off humans. They trap humans in a dreamlike state where they are in their ideal Heaven and feed off of their souls.


Rit Zien - special class of angels. In Enochian it means 'hands of mercy'. They were essentially field medics. In the fields of battle, they would hone in on the wounded and heal the ones worth healing. Angels that were too far gone, that would quickly and painlessly end their life.

Cherubs - also known as Cupid. They are of the third class of Angel's.

Angels - Regular ol angels. Aside from normal angelic powers, there is nothing special about them.

Fallen Angels - angels that have been expelled or kicked out of heaven. When regular angels are kicked, they lose certain abilities. Fallen Archangels retain all of their abilities. (SEE FALLEN ANGEL LORE FOR MORE)**

Nephilim - an offspring of an angel and a human. They have a human soul but possess the Grace of an Angel. Like angels, Nephilim possess many of the same abilities and characteristics of their parents. Despite being of Angelic descent, they are considered abominations due to the fact that they are more powerful than their celestial parents. The conception of Nephilim is forbidden. If caught, the punishment is death for both parents and offspring.***

**Fallen Angels do not fall into the hierarchy of the classes. They are a rank all of its own.

- Characteristics -

Angels are not omniscient beings, although their knowledge, especially that of an archangel, is extensive. Their angelic powers exist in the form of Grace. When fallen, or kicked, the removal of Grace is an extremely painful process.

The "physical appearance" of an angel's true form varies. Angel's typically have blue eyes. Their true form, to a human, is literally a blinding white light. If a human sees an angel's true form, it will burn their corneas. Their true voice is a very high pitched sound that could break glass. Some humans can hear and understand an angel's true voice but to most, it is overwhelmingly painful.

Angels communicate in Heaven using Enochian and they are mostly telepathic and they have limited ability on hearing humans. Angel's can possess a human vessel but they must obtain permission first. Some angelic powers are innate whereas others can be enhanced by archangels. Abilities are correlated with the rank of an angel. Depending on an angels rank, they do not need to be connected to Heaven to use their power.

- Powers -

Angels are extremely powerful beings with a wide range of abilities. Abilities vary by class of the angel. For example, archangels have all the normal abilities of angels but they are enhanced and they abilities normal angels do not possess.

- SuperHuman Strength
- Teleportation: Angels can teleport anywhere in the world, as long as the area isn't protected by Enochian symbols. They use their wings to teleport so it is more like they are flying very fast. If your wings are damaged, you cannot teleport.
- Invisibility: Angels can render themselves unseen
- Healing: Angels possess the ability to heal humans. They lose this ability if they are no longer connected to Heaven.
- Sedation: By placing two fingers on someone's forehead can render someone unconscious.
- Supernatural Perception: they can see a being's true form and see objects that humans cannot. For example: reapers and Enochian Sigils
- Telepathy: Angels can communicate using their minds. The target must be receptive to it. Doesn't work on everyone.
- Voice Mimicry: They can sound like whatever human they want
- Knowledge of all prophets

- Special Abilities - 

- Memory manipulation - Angels have the ability to take away and restore a human's memories. Angels can also implant fake memories.
- Resurrection: Ability, only very few possess, that can resurrect the dead, even from Hell.
- Other forms of Telekinesis: Biokinesis, Pyrokinesis, Electrokinesis, Cryokinesis
- Weather Manipulation
- Reality Warping: the creation of living beings, creatures, objects, and imaginary realities out of nothing.
- Matchmaking: Cherubs can bring couples together by marking their hearts with Enochian Symbols
- Power removal: One angel has displayed the power to remove psychic abilities from humans, but it is extremely painful and mentally-damaging to the person losing the power.

- Weaknesses -

Holy oil - This can be used to trap an angel.

Angel banishing sigil - drawn in human blood. When a hand is placed on the sigil, angels are temporarily banished from the area. It can be used by humans and angels, and the angel who uses it does not disappear with the others. It is powerful enough to banish an archangel as strong as Lucifer, as well as regular angels.

Exorcism chant - There is an exorcism chant to expel angels from their human vessels. It seems that the chant is not well known as only one demon, Alastair, has ever used it.

Angel blade - A short blade carried around by angels, can be wielded by humans.

Angel sword - A sword that is carried by the Grigori class of angels. Has the same effect as the angel blade.

Archangel blade - A short blade carried by the archangels that is capable of killing an archangel, but only when wielded by another archangel or a vessel powered by an archangel

Enochian Sigils - They can be used to disguise the location of those bearing the symbols. Enochian sigils can also be used to keep angels from entering a building.

Death's scythe

Being away from Heaven - Angels cannot be away from Heaven for long unless they have a blessed item - ie a weapon, item, or a piece of jewelry.

Note: Archangels can easily overpower angels, often killing or banishing them by snapping their fingers.
